Baumunk Scholarship

Baumunk Scholarship

The Richard E. Baumunk Memorial Scholarship was named in honor of Richard E Baumunk, a founder and long time volunteer of PFCU. A scholar himself, Mr. Baumunk believed everyone should attain the highest levels of education possible. The Baumunk Memorial Scholarship was established to reward individuals who demonstrate outstanding scholastic achievement and who express an interest in the credit union movement.

Each year, Patriot Federal Credit Union awards one graduating high school senior, who is a member of PFCU, a scholarship in the amount of $2,500. Winners are selected based upon the following criteria:

  • Essay Score - written on an assigned credit union related topic
  • Interview Score
  • Grade Point Average

Recipients of the award receive $1,250 their freshman year and $1,250 their sophomore year. The sophomore year award is contingent upon the attainment of a 2.50 grade point average in the freshman year.

Full details for the Richard E. Baumunk Memorial Scholarship award are published each year in PFCU's January member newsletter, Expanding Horizons.
