New Fraud Trend: Spoofed Calls Impersonating Patriot Federal Credit Union

woman on the phone

At Patriot, your security is our top priority. We want to alert our members to a recent scam involving spoofed phone calls where fraudsters are impersonating Patriot employees.

What’s Happening:

Members are receiving fraudulent phone calls that appear to come from Patriot. The caller falsely claims there is insider abuse at the credit union and that your money is no longer safe. The scammers are coaching members to visit a branch and give a fake reason for a large cash withdrawal and deposit the cash into a Bitcoin ATM, or download a card onto their digital wallet and deposit funds at a cardless ATM.

These calls are completely fraudulent and no one from Patriot will ever ask you to withdraw cash or move money into cryptocurrency.

What You Should Know:

  • Caller ID can be spoofed. Just because it shows “Patriot” it doesn’t mean it’s us
  • We will never instruct you to lie about your reason for withdrawing funds
  • We will never ask you to move money to a Bitcoin ATM

If You Receive a Suspicious Call:

  1. Hang up immediately
  2. Do not share any personal or financial information
  3. Call us at 888-777-9982 to report the incident

Help Us Spread the Word

We encourage members to share this information with friends and family. Fraudsters continue to evolve their tactics, but together, we can stay one step ahead.
